We speak to Managing Director, Graham Main about our Annual Staff Meeting which takes place every year to recognise staff that have gone above and beyond, and to outline how far we have come as a business as well as the goals that we need to set for 2020.
Graham explained: ‘Our annual meeting has grown and grown, my first one in 2010 was attended by 30 staff in Limber Village hall, this year 100 of our staff gave up their private time to attend the Baths Hall Scunthorpe to hear the results of the company for 2019 and our direction and budgets for 2020. Thankfully in my early years Michael bought into (perhaps reluctantly at first) my philosophy being transparent with the staff with the numbers of the business. If we expect them to be part of the P&B family and get us to where we are aiming, they need know the detail.
The theme of our meeting was customer service, we have a simple cycle we live by that sales and aftersales are in it together “nothing happens until we sell something and aftersales get us the repeat business” our guest speaker Simon Batty from Maple Associates laboured the important message to staff “treat your customers how you expect to be treated in your personal lives” sometimes the connecting rod goes missing.
Our awards ceremony is a key part of the evening, we try to breed healthy rivalry and recognise extra effort in the business, a list of our winning departments are below. Our much-converted Outstanding Achievement award is voted for by the staff. This year’s very deserved winner was Garry Johnson for yet again holding the Brigg service department together in our hour of need.
We give our special thanks to the team at the Baths Hall who looked after us fantastically well, the carvery dinner has been raved about, a great evening was had by all.’
