Get to know a new face: Sam Williams, Valtra Brand Manager

Sam Williams is the new face of Valtra for Peacock & Binnington, taking over from Jake Maxfield, who after much success, has decided he would prefer a much more hands-on and practical role and is now Sales Support. Sam will be based at the Brigg head office but will be mainly mobile.

Sam (31) from Hemswell went to Riseholme college, a Further and Higher Education college in Lincolnshire, specialising in land-based subjects, after completing his two-year course at Riseholme he walked away with a diploma in agriculture. Sam started at our Corringham branch 11 years ago as parts advisor where he would liaise with suppliers and supported new starters within the department amongst other things. More recently Sam was Group parts manager for a local agricultural machinery dealer in the position of Group parts manager which doubled up as branch manager, this meant Sam gained a great deal of management experience, dealing with people and engaging with many different customers, as well as having great organisational skills.

Spending time with his 4-year-old son is his most favourite past time, but he also enjoys a few rounds of golf as well as playing darts occasionally! We asked Sam what made him make the leap into sales, he said: ‘I took the parts business about as far as I could take it,
I was after a fresh challenge and I have found it, I’m looking forward to being out and about, talking to customers and meeting new ones!’

When asked what the aims are for the Valtra brand for Peacock and Binnington he explained: ‘I want to grow the Valtra brand and make it a prominent player for the business, I want to engage with people we haven’t yet dealt with and ensure repeat business with our existing customers. So far, I have found that being back is like
falling into place really, like coming home.’

Sam sat down with the marketing team, sales staff, and managing director here at P&B on the day of the launch of the Valtra G series, to get a real insight into the brand new series of Valtra tractors, he said: ‘ Valtra is all about giving the best tractor experience, with this new machine I feel they have really had the end-user in mind throughout the whole design process, combining versatile features and innovative technology into outstanding comfort. There are many features on this machine that I think would be fantastic for our customers, from advanced power lift, 100/110L/min hydraulic pump capacity and full-featured implement control to the all-round visibility making it perfect for those customers who frequently use a front loader. I am looking forward to shouting about all Valtra series and their capabilities to new and existing customers’
